It’s tempting to think about giving only in light of the commands we see in Scripture to be a generous giver, but our generosity stems from the example of God Himself. He did not spare even His own Son, “how will He not also with him graciously give us all things?” (Romans 8:32) The Bible says that we love because God first loved us, and we can just as truthfully say that we give because He first gave lavishly to us.
