Throughout salvation history, God invites His people to participate with Him in His redemptive work; one way we do that is through our giving. God pours out blessings on us, we give in faith and obedience back to Him, and the amazing truth is that God promises to bless us all the more as we follow Him in generous giving. With the example of our giving God and in light of all the ways He has lavished gifts upon us, we give with pure motives and joyful hearts. Giving is to be generous, not stingy (2 Cor. 9:6); enthusiastic, not begrudging (2 Cor. 9:7); deliberate, not haphazard (2 Cor. 9:7; Acts 11:29); discreet, not showy (Matt. 6:1-4); and faith-filled, not anxious (Matt. 3:10).

The regular giving of believers to the church meets its immediate needs so that the Word may be preached and the Gospel may go forth with clarity and faithfulness.
